Ms Roxzan - Year 2 Teacher

Welcome to Year 2 to all the parents and students, new and old. I am very excited for this school year, as the school takes positive steps forward, and to be teaching your children.

My name is Roxzan Horwood. I am from South Africa and completed my Bachelor of Primary Education and honours in Educational Psychology there, at the University of Pretoria. I came to London in March to work at the International Community School, and liked it so much I have been here since.

Introduction to kids at Year 2

In Year 2 the lessons are more structured than the previous classes the children will of attended. They study a broad and colourful curriculum and there is an emphasis on the growth of independence. Although much work is completed individually, it is also important for the children to understand how to be part of a team and participate in group work.

Unit of Inquiry - Autumn Term

This term we are focussing on celebrations from all over the world and from different cultures. We are going to be looking at birth celebrations, weddings, New Years, burials, graduations and many more. At the end of the term we want to put what we have learnt into practice and create our own celebration.
