A Summer Course for students looking to prepare for the challenges of further education and ‘life’!.
International Community School is offering a special course for 16 to 18 year olds at its beautiful centrally situated Regent's Park summer centre from 7th July to 15th August 2008. This practical course prepares you for further academic study and for adult life in the modern world, where the full range of English skills -speaking, listening, reading and writing - are of great importance.
The course consists of the following components:
ENGLISH LANGUAGE & STUDY SKILLS – 15 hours per week focusing on the skills required to cope in the global environment. As well as practising English skills, you will also develop an awareness of the Study Skills needed to succeed in any adult learning institution. This is ideal preparation for learners wishing to enter higher education and training. If you want to take IELTS for college entrance, you will find this a perfect preparation course for examination.
SKILLS TRAINING – 8 hours per week focusing on using and developing all your English skills in real life communicative situations. You will develop projects based on contemporary relevant topics such as: Culture, Gender, the Media and the Environment. The course will stimulate, inspire and fill students with the confidence needed to move on to one of the most challenging stages in their lives. Projects will culminate in multimedia presentations and question and answer sessions.
SPORTS AFTERNOON –Practising your favourite sports, and using your English. London can cater for most tastes in sports, and in Regents Park itself Tennis and Football are included in course fees - staff can arrange other sporting experiences as requested.
EVENING SOCIAL ACTIVITY (OPTIONAL) – 7 hours per week giving you a chance to learn, explore and discover London. Learn about the culture, diversity and sites of this truly unique metropolis, whilst practising English with your friends and teachers.
FULL DAY ACCOMPANIED EXCURSION (OPTIONAL) – 1 day per week, providing you with the opportunity to either discover more about London, or visit exciting cultural and historical destinations such as Cambridge, Brighton and Stonehenge.
