Welcome to the International Community School

ICS is an independent International Baccalaureate World School* located in London providing a dynamic learning community for 3 to 18 year old learners.

We are an international school where teaching and learning is driven by best practice utilising the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) for our primary aged students (ages 3 – 11) and the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for our secondary aged students (ages 11 – 16). For students aged 16 - 19, the School offers the IB Diploma aimed at students who are university/college bound.

As an independent school with an international focus we have 50 different nationalities represented within our student body including the UK. With a passion for inclusion, we have developed specialised programmes for those seeking English Language support or  Special Needs support. We also offer exciting environmental expeditions and trips year-round to our community as well as frequent stays at our Outdoor Education & Environmental Centre in Bawdsey, Suffolk.

* The status of IB World School was first bestowed on ICS in June 2008 and again in August 2008 with the school receiving full authorisation from the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) for its PYP and MYP programmes. In April 2010, ICS gained full authorisation to teach the IB Diploma (to start in September 2010), so becoming one of only a handful of school's in the United Kingdom authorised to offer all three IB programmes.  Authorisation involves a challenging and on-going commitment to the principles, standards and practices of the IBO plus on-going professional development for teachers and administrators.

An Independent School with an International Focus

Established in 1979, ICS is a small friendly international school in London, with a curriculum that provides for students aged 3 to 18 years. Students and faculty from 65 countries (including the UK ) form a dynamic learning community making ICS one of the most unique independent schools in the UK.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes of Study

ICS offers the three IB programmes, the Primary Years Programme for students aged 3 - 11; the Middle Years Programme (MYP)for students aged 11 - 16; and from September 2010 the IB Diploma Programme for students aged 16 to19.The three programmes form a coherent sequence of education by promoting the education of the whole person through an emphasis on intellectual, personal, emotional and social growth.

In all three programmes, the education of the whole person is manifested through all domains of knowledge, involving the major traditions of learning in languages, humanities, sciences, mathematics and the arts.

Furthermore, all three programmes:

• require study across a broad range of subjects drawing on content from educational cultures across the world
• give special emphasis to language acquisition and development
• encourage learning across disciplines
• focus on developing the skills of learning
• include, to a varying extent, the study of individual subjects and of transdisciplinary areas
• provide students with opportunities for individual and collaborative planning and research
• include a community service component requiring action and reflection.

English Language

At the heart of International Community School are our English language students from the age of 3 - 17 years. Throughout the year our community provides, interest, energy, enthusiasm and motivation to a student body who wish to learn English for their long term education. Special Needs

ICS offers a comprehensive program for children and families seeking a special needs school in London.
